Upgrading an older commercial alarm.
What to review before replacing a panel, and what to ask about monitoring and ongoing costs.

An older alarm does not automatically mean every component needs replacing. Start with what is happening at the property: recurring activations, faults, a changed layout or an arming routine that no longer suits the working day.
Describe the problem before the solution.
Write down what you have noticed and when. Is there a repeated fault message, an activation at a particular time or a part of the premises that has changed? Explain the effect on staff and operations.
For an older system that has not been serviced regularly, a review should establish what is installed and what needs attention before deciding on a repair, panel upgrade or wider replacement.
Find out what can stay.
Ask the installer to assess the existing panel, detectors and wiring. Equipment condition, compatibility and the intended changes will influence what can be reused.
A new layout or different hours can also change the requirements. Explain which areas remain occupied after closing, who arms the system and any separate tenancies or shifts that affect daily use.
Separate the alarm from the response.
Discuss what should happen after an activation. Back-to-base monitoring and app-based notifications involve different arrangements. Ask who receives the signal, who is contacted and what follow-up has actually been agreed.
Get the monitoring method, compatibility, ongoing charges and cancellation terms in writing. If a panel upgrade is included in a package, clarify the equipment, installation scope and any conditions before treating it as free.

Choose the right enquiry.
For a planned upgrade or new installation, request an alarm quote and explain what needs to change. For a current fault or maintenance visit, use the service request so the problem is clear from the start.
Neither website form confirms an appointment or a response time. Hillstone needs to review the property and request before agreeing the work.
